Directions for use

Substrate preparation

All surfaces must be clean, sound, and free from any loosely adhering particles. Cement laitance must be removed. Wire brush, sand- or water blast, or grinding may be used to clean the substrate.

All substrates must be with deflections not to exceed 1/360 of the span.

Concrete substrates must be at least 3 – 4 weeks old, depending on climate.

Mixing

Arki-Bond C10 should be added slowly to 6 liters of clean water during mixing. It is recommended to use a mixing paddle attached to a slow-speed electric drill for at least 2 minutes until the material becomes smooth in consistency and slump-free. Allow the material to saturate for 5 – 10 minutes before use.

Application

The mixed adhesive is applied to the prepared surface with a trowel and then combed through a suitably sized notched trowel in straight ribs to give a ribbed adhesive bed.

After applying the adhesive and within the open time, bed the tiles firmly with a slight twisting action to achieve the required contact with the prepared substrate. If the applied adhesive is out of open time (skin formation), re-trowel the adhesive with the notched trowel.

Use the correct cross spacer to control joints. Ensure that there are no voids under the tiles and they are fully supported by the adhesive. Clean off the excess adhesive from the tile face and the grout lines with a damp cloth before it sets. The adhesive must not be disturbed for at least 24 hours.

Yield

A 20 kg bag of Arki Bond C10 mixed with 6 liters of water yields in approximately 14 liters of mixed adhesive.

Cleaning

Clean tools with water before hardening the adhesive.

Storage and shelf life

Arki-Bond C10 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in dry warehouse conditions in an unopened, undamaged original bag. Storage should be away from direct sunlight in an ambient temperature between 5°C and 35°C.

Packaging

20 kg bags
